Biliteracy Summer Workshop

Biliteracy Summer Workshop Series

Day 1:
Foundations in Effective Dual Language Programs and Biliteracy

Participants will build their foundation of effective biliteracy instruction and how it is  implemented in a dual language/bilingual program model.

Day 2:
Building Background and Oracy

Participants will explore the biliteracy model and the importance of oracy development. Participants will add a variety of strategies to their toolbox for effectively building oracy in biliteracy instruction. Participants will also have an opportunity to plan an oracy lesson.

Day 3:
Reading and Writing Strategies in a Biliteracy Model

Participants will learn effective strategies that align to the gradual release model in reading and writing. Using grade level mentor texts, participants will plan effective lessons using the gradual release model. Effective biliteracy strategies will also be highlighted, such as dictado.

Who should attend?

All bilingual educators who are responsible for biliteracy instruction in your district. This workshop series is perfect for educators in a:

  • Transitional Bilingual Program
  • One Way Dual Language Program
  • Two Way Dual Language Program

Biliteracy Summer Workshop Series

Day 1:
